U.S. Senator Pete Domenici from New Mexico plans to introduce this bill in April 2002 and to establish an ongoing national drought council, with designated project funding to assist farmers, urban and rural water users, tribal interests, environmental managers, those engaged in fire protection and other similar activities to better plan and prepare for drought.
