The objectives of this slide presentation on the Jordan River in Salt Lake Valley, Utah, were to: characterize return flows in the lower Jordan River; and, evaluate future flow impacts to river that may result from increased wastewater recycling, and increased importation of water supplies. Study challenges included: system complexity; supply sources; water municipalities and districts; irrigation canals and diversions; wastewater collection systems; large volume of data; approximately 100 Megs of spreadsheet files; data gaps; and, groundwater surface water interaction. Topics outlined include: groundwater inflows; typical M&I demand block; agricultural demands; water supplier/WTP; wastewater and reuse; mass balance at river reaches; scenario manager and typical plot; model results (dry years); phosphorous load optimization; and, water quality cost vs. phosphorous reduction. Includes tables, figures.
