This slide presentation outlines regulatory compliance for automating drinking water systems. Presentation topics include: Your Regulatory World, including the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Clean Water Act (CWA); Regulatory Compliance Risks including environmental, health and safety Risks, regulatory action risks, and political and legal risks; Your Information Technology World; a Regulatory/Technology Partnership, including key components for regulatory compliance; and, Drinking Water Regulatory Database, including eDWaRD (electronic Drinking Water Regulatory Database) custom application developed by the City of Phoenix. eDWaRD Project background includes: the mission of the WSD is to provide high quality, reliable and cost effective water services that meet public needs; Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Office (CRAO) is responsible for assuring full compliance with County, State and Federal drinking water regulations; CRAO monitors three public drinking water systems; CRAO activities related to drinking water include: establishing sampling schedules, locations, and reviewing sample results; preparing and submitting compliance reports, notifications to regulatory agencies, and public notifications; and communicating and coordinating closely with other WSD Divisions: Laboratory Services, Pollution Control, Water Production, and Water Distribution/Wastewater Collections.
