The objectives of this pilot study at the Hugh A. Wyckoff Water Treatment Plant, owned and operated by the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, were the following: to obtain major design and operating criteria for a potential full-scale post-filter nanofiltration (NF) facility; to determine the fouling and scaling potential of the feed water; to provide water samples for characterization of permeate and concentrate water quality; and, to determine the corrosion potential and disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation potential of the blended finished water. This paper describes the operational and water quality results from the pilot-scale evaluation of post-filter NF membrane treatment. Additionally, one of the most significant issues for evaluating the use of NF in north Georgia is the ability to identify a permittable and economical means of concentrate disposal. A separate study was conducted to determine the water quality and treatability testing performed on the concentrate and the potential disposal options (Isabel, 2007). Includes 4 references, tables, figures.
