This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Wisconsin Groundwater Advisory Committee's 2007 Report to the Legislature that identified two areas as "groundwater management areas". Radium contamination in both areas is presented, along with the typical southeastern Wisconsin hydrogeology. The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) efforts recognize state law alternative reviews: one - use existing limits on lake water use; two/three - expand lake water service based upon proposed law; and, four - expand lake water service area with return flow. Moving forward - current water status: sub-regional review completed; socio-economic study beginning; plan approval probably will go to state as state-of-the-art regulation and receive legislative approval for SEWRPC oversight; and, local plans will implement with SEWRPC approval.
