This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the economic benefits of energy efficiency. An example is presented of an energy efficiency best practice to minimize pumping energy at the Kimberly Water Utility, where its John Street facility altered their operation of pumping from a deep well into a ground reservoir by installing a larger premium efficient motor and a variable frequency drive to their deep well pump. Another example is presented of the City of Oconto Water Department where water was supplied by wells with declining recharge. To make the wells function, pumps were throttled to lower their flow rate, manage drawdown and retain water quality. As an energy efficiency modification, they purchased and installed variable frequency drives. Includes table, figure.
