Water is essential to all forms of life. Our natural resources are becoming increasingly scarce and valuable to us. The study of water can offer schools an enlightening topic, which can form part of a broad-based curriculum, as well as raising awareness of its importance in our daily lives. Such studies can offer the citizens of the future a better understanding of the processes involved in supplying pure and wholesome water, and ensuring that wastewater is returned safely to nature. This paper will consider the ways in which Northumbrian Lyonnaise Technology and Research Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom is spearheading an innovative initiative to raise awareness of the importance water assets play in our daily lives. The Research Centre is developing resources, which will bring the topic of networks into the classroom and raise awareness through public education.
