This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of the Hyperion Treatment Plant. Work schedule issues included: too many vacancies; recruitment problem due to shortage of certified operators nationwide; too many weekdays off rather than the preferred weekend off; and, "over-utilization" of relief operators to cover vacancies. The labor management process is outlined, along with Hyperion Operations Scheduling Alternative Study (HOSAS) discussions, and the advantages of the new schedule versus the old schedule. Success of the HOSAS (Hyperion Operations Scheduling Alternative Study) Team included the following: identifying the main problem at the outset; solution structures have clear objectives; members of management and labor have the key players; actual data was used in the discussion; all members of the team were willing to meet halfway to achieve a common goal with developed trust and honesty. Includes tables.
