Integrated water resource management with focus on water reclamation has been a vital component of Phoenix area utilities water resource portfolios for a number of years. This paper presents Peoria's planning and design of a new state-of-the-art water reclamation facility (Butler Drive WRF) using membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology. Since the City's overall water resource management strategy will include a significant reliance on reclaimed water, a feasibility study was undertaken to consider water reclamation for the Southern Planning Area. Elements of the study are discussed in the paper along with site selection, technology selection, equipment procurement, and design considerations. Includes table, figures.
