This paper briefly describes the scwd² seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination pilot-scale study, presents summary results from 9 months of pilot tests on the alternative pretreatment systems, and compares the carbon footprint of the alternative pretreatment systems. In this paper, carbon footprint is defined as the equivalent carbon dioxide in metric tons per year of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
