The final product quality of reclaimed water is dependent on many factors including the original drinking water quality and the associated watershed. Reclaimed water quality can be correlated with drinking water quality in many cases to provide insight into the sources of bulk organic carbon, ions and synthetic organic compounds and other constituents in reclaimed water. This paper presents an overview of how watershed analysis can be used to help predict reclaimed water quality and aid decision-makers in the choice of treatment processes. Examples are presented for dissolved organic carbon, halogenated organic carbon, classes of synthetic organic compounds and other constituents. Includes 17 references, figures.
