By using weather based irrigation technology, the Santa Barbara County ET Controller Distribution and Installation Program is saving 25% of the landscape water use at targeted residential properties in Santa Barbara County (County), California, U.S.A. Reducing landscape water use is a large source of potential water savings in Santa Barbara County because approximately fifty percent of residential water use in the County is for landscape irrigation and there are many large residential landscapes. The program involves distribution and installation of 300 WeatherTRAK® ET irrigation controllers (ET Controller) over three years at no cost to the program partners' highest water using residential customers. This program was the first in California to directly involve both the customer and local licensed landscape contractors in this new technology. Includes figures.
