This slide presentation gives information on short range versus long range atmospheric transport and threats; toxins; and, how contaminated river water is a major problem in Ukraine. Current research objectives include: determining what types of microbes are transported around the globe in clouds of desert dust; using culture based and molecular assays for isolate identification and to address viability issues; and, identifying pathogens that may impact crop, livestock, ecosystem and human health.
