This study examines the use of mercury-gold amalgam microelectrodes to determine Fe2+ and Mn2+ sediment porewater concentration gradients in Carvin's Cove, a water supply reservoir for Roanoke, Virginia. Oxygen diffuser lines were installed near the treatment plant intake to replenish oxygen levels in the raw water during seasonal stratification of the reservoir. The goal of this project was to monitor Fe and Mn sediment flux as a function of oxygenation rate in the reservoir. Includes 3 references, table, figures.
