In preparation for the potential regulation of perchlorate, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) has developed an Action Plan to address issues related to perchlorate which may impact the drinking water industry. Part of this Action Plan is to consolidate and map the national occurrence of perchlorate using information from existing occurrence surveys. The existing surveys included results from the Unregulated Contaminants Monitoring Rule (UCMR) and surveys by the states of Arizona, California, Massachusetts and Texas. This paper presents consolidated perchlorate occurrence information from these surveys and maps the known location of perchlorate occurrence as of the fall of 2004. Includes 7 references, tables.
