This slide presentation outlines information on a pilot study that evaluated nitrification control strategies at Mohawk Valley Water Authority (MVWA). The objectives of the study included: identify a robust nitrification control strategy so that MVWA can implement chloramines if it chooses; evaluate several nitrification control approaches on the pilot scale using finished water from Hinckley WTP; demonstrate to the State that nitrification can be controlled/prevented in the MVWA system; and, provide recommendations on integrating the most suitable nitrification strategy into chloramines system design.
