This slide presentation begins with background information on Little Cottonwood Water Treatment Plant (LCWTP), information on ozone basics, and reasons for using ozone. Operational issues are outlined including byproducts and manganese. A manganese pilot study is outlined, with lessons learned being: alarms and shutdowns of the ozone operating system; and, suspected analyzer or catalyst failure and ran a fairly expensive lab test to check for organics that might interfere with the analyzer. Simple solutions included: a differential pressure meter on the ozone destruct unit is equipped with a bypass valve; and, the bypass needed to be closed. Further topics covered include: ozone regulations; contact time; concentration; time X concentration; preconstruction; ozone study; T10 analysis; ozone sampling and decay; ozone decay study; ozone residual study and matrix; decay constant K; and, residual study and analysis. Includes tables, figures.
