Analytical laboratories are a key element of the water sector's ability to respond to suspected contamination of drinking water and wastewater systems, especially in the case of serious chemical, biological, and radiochemical contaminants that pose the greatest threat. Laboratories that are part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (USEPA's) Water Laboratory Alliance now have single sign-on access through USEPA's Central Data Exchange to two USEPA tools that are specific to drinking water contamination: WCIT, the Water Contaminant Information Tool; and, NEMI-CBR, the National Environmental Methods Index for Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Methods.
