Some gas regulators, valve integrated pressure regulators (VIPRs), and flowmeters used in medical service contain elastomers and plastics that can degrade over time with use. Mechanical components inside these devices can also be affected. To ensure this degradation does not affect safety, these devices should be cared for, inspected, and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
