Comparative Analysis of Quanta and R-naught: Implications for Infectious Disease Dynamics and Control Measures

Two widely used metrics for assessing transmissibility are the basic reproduction number (R-naught; R0) and the quanta of infection. These two metrics are analyzed in this column and discussed with respect to their advantages, limitations and potential applications in infectious disease modeling.
