Metadata for Smart Control in Smart Buildings

The topics of data-driven smart buildings and smart control have been emerging in research on smart buildings. A returning point of concern in the creation of a data-driven smart building is the need for metadata and how to encode such metadata. In data-driven smart buildings the metadata clarifies what such data measures and represents: the meta of data. This article critically reviews the nature of these metadata, while focusing on the different forms that these metadata take in the design and engineering of control systems.
