Types I. II. and VI.

Types I, II, and VI studs, applied to steel surfaces by automatic stud-welding equipment, are used as a means of attachlng sheathing, insulation, electric cables and equipment, piping, and other parts.

Types III, IV and VII.

Types III, IV, and VII studs, applied to aluminum alloy surfaces by automatic stud-welding equipment, are used as a means of attaching insulation and sheathing to aluminum alloy decks, bulkheads, and other attachments where permitted under the applicable specification.

Types V and VIII. Types V and Vlll studs, applied to corrosion-resistant steel surfaces by automatlc stud-welding equipment, are used as a means of attachlng electric cables and equipment, piping, and other parts in highly corrosive atmospheres.

This specification covers studs for welding with stud welding equipment and arc shields (ferrules) for shielding studs where applicable.
