1.1This specification establishes requirements for safety signage and labels for fitness equipment as defined in 3.1.3 and fitness facilities as defined in 3.1.4. It provides for the design, placement, and minimum wording required.

1.2It is the intent of this specification to set guidelines for warnings and signage to be placed on fitness equipment and in fitness facilities where the intended users are 13 years old and older.

1.3This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
