The Seminole Tribe of Florida (STOF) consists of five reservations throughout Florida. The STOF is currently implementing an overall capital improvement program to all of the water and wastewater treatment facilities at various reservations, including the Hollywood and Brighton Reservations. This paper focuses on the selection and design of pressure membrane systems required for the water plants at the Hollywood and Brighton Reservations. Selection and design of the membrane process for both water treatment plants will include the following items: selection and design of pretreatment process required to prevent fouling of the pressure membranes; pre- and post- chemical treatment; selection and design of a membrane system that will allow treatment for potential salt water intrusion at the Hollywood Plant; selection and design of membrane system that will allow staging and limited operation to meet current and future system demands; and, chemical treatment of the permeate to maintain stable water quality conditions in the distribution system.
