This slide presentation outlines information on the Utility Benchmark Survey. The purpose of the survey was to: benchmark utilities against U.S. and international best practices; provide a basis for comparison with other utilities of similar size and function; conduct "gap analysis" of current performance against the benchmark; provide a baseline for asset management strategic planning; and, identify areas of focus for business process and work practice change management. Survey topics included: demographics, utility type, size and population; organization, dynamics and strategies; function, assignment, activity and succession; asset records, identification, hierarchies and priorities; work orders, initiation, planning, scheduling and recording; PM/PdM, initiation, planning, scheduling and recording; inventory, management and acquisition; asset management, expensing, reporting and programming; inspections, planning and conducting; condition assessments, planning, conducting and analysis; and, rehabilitation and replacement, strategic planning and programming.
