This slide presentation begins by outlining background information on the Tampa Bay Seawater Desalination Project. Project history is then outlined along with deficiencies that occurred in the following processes: Pretreatment; reverse osmosis (RO); post-treatment; and, inadequate design and manufacturing. AWP RO modifications included: replace Clean-In-Place (CIP) piping with fiberglass piping; add CIP VFD, cooling water system; move Bisulfite dosing after cartridge filters; replace membranes: 3-5 configuration; add high quality permeate flow control; add valves to isolate arrays; add air vents, replace PVC permeate lines; and, modify RO materials piping, valves. Schematics are provided of the original pretreatment waste treatment system, the modified waste treatment system, and the post-treatment and transmission system. AWP Post Treatment and Transmission Modifications included: add 2 static mixers in permeate pipeline; quick lime feed system converted to hydrated lime; add VFD control lime pumps; add second lime silo; double the CO2 feed system capacity; and, revise control system. Project challenges are listed along with all-in cost of desalination.
