Taste and odor incidents are the major causes of consumer complaints for drinking water suppliers. The determination of their origin and causes has become one of the priorities of water companies. The objective of this work was to investigate the possible formation of iodinated organic compounds when natural waters containing iodide are in contact with MnO₂. Materials and methods are discussed including: reagents; standard solutions; experimental procedures; and, analytical procedures involving iodide and iodate ions analysis, analysis of organoiodides, and UV_254nm and dissolved organic carbon analysis.
