This powerpoint presentation presents a study of the occurrence, fate and transport of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in three California watersheds: the State Project Water (SPW); the Santa Ana River (SAR); and, the Colorado River Water (CRW). Sampling locations and frequency are listed, along with analytical study methods that included the following: PPCPs detected in other watersheds; PPCPs from different categories; organic wastewater contaminants (OWCs); analysis of volatile and semi-volatile compounds by GC/MS; analysis of polar and non-volatile compounds by LC/MS and LC/MS/MS; and, intra- and inter-laboratory QA/QC. A list of analytes is provided, along with a list of the most frequently detected PPCPs and OWCs, and results are given for the detection in all three watersheds of Carbamazepine, Primidone, Gemfibrozil, Sulfamethoxazole, and Caffeine. The fate and transport of PPCPs in the Santa Ana River is provided in detail. Includes tables, figures.
