This standard describes aqua ammonia (liquid ammonium hydroxide) for use in the treatment of potable water, wastewater, or reclaimed water. The purpose of this standard is to provide the minimum requirements for aqua ammonia, including physical, chemical, sampling, packaging, shipping, and testing requirements.

Major changes made to the standard in this revision include the following:

1. Inclusion of the use of this material for wastewater and reclaimed water as well as definitions of these terms
2. Inclusion of a requirement for compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and other federal regulations
3. Inclusion of guidance for rejection of the material and concentration variation
4. Inclusion of a requirement for tamper-evident packaging
