This slide presentation outlines a study on the impact of pH during flocculation on downstream membrane performance. Topics covered include: Membrane Applications Background; Impact of Particle Size on Membrane Fouling; Micro-flow Imaging Experimental Set-up; Membrane Experimental Set-up; Micro-flow Imaging Results; and, Membrane Fouling Rate Results. Results included: particle size distributions became steady after 10- 15 minutes of operation for all pH values; the final particle concentration in the smallest size range was the lowest for the lowest pH run; membrane fouling rate was the highest for the lowest pH run; and, the shortest HRT resulted in the highest fouling rate.
